Golo's Staff Application - Golo - 07-29-2026

Applicant Information:
Steam Name: Golo
SteamID (STEAM_0:X):https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561199130424176/
Discord Tag: Boat.wav
Forum Account: Golo
Timezone: BST (GMT)

Activity Requirements:
Average daily playtime on server: Can range from 10–15 minutes every other hour to 4–8 hour-long grind sessions.
Weekly availability (days/times): I try to be on as much as possible, but sometimes I have downtime weeks where I don't get to be on games as much because I'm dealing with work, family, etc.
Do you have a working microphone? (Yes/No): Yes

Staff History:
Previous staff experience (include server names, ranks, and responsibilities): Nothing I can credibly name. The only time I was ever staff on a GMod server was years ago when I was about 12–13 on a DarkRP server similar to Ryesprint. I believe I held an Administrator position. As I said, I can't credibly name the server as it is long lost to the wind. However, I would like to mention that I understand ULX commands and how the system works, although I may need a little touching up.
Have you ever been punished, banned, or blacklisted on any server?
If yes, explain in detail: Yes, I have been punished on other servers but never blacklisted. Basic things like RDM, whether some were intentional or accidental. I think we all learn at some point that playing the game for what it is is much better than being a minge. Those experiences taught me what not to do, how fair moderation works, and why I value it.

Rule Knowledge & Situations:
Answer clearly and in detail. Short or vague answers may result in denial.
1. A player is actively RDMing and disconnects when you attempt to deal with them. What do you do?
First of all, I'll check the disconnection type, whether the user has quit or if it's a timeout/DC, in which case I'd allow some time for them to rejoin and go over their situation. If they have blatantly left and shown NITRP, I think a fair punishment is due, whether it be a small ban allowing the player to come back another time and try again, or a heftier punishment if the user's history is recurring.
2. You receive a report of FearRP/LTAP, but both players are arguing and claiming innocence. How do you handle the situation?
First of all, a clip and logs are what matter here, so I would ask for a clip from both of them. If one is provided, we can come to a conclusion from the evidence. Other than that, it becomes a he-said-she-said scenario, in which I'd ask both players if there's some kind of compromise or compensation they can make with each other. There are also logs I can go through and review. Either way, I'd prefer solid clip evidence. If that can't be provided, we can run through each of their stories and come to a decision based on the scenario and the logs.
3. A staff member is abusing commands or showing bias. What steps do you take?
These sorts of issues are to be handled internally. If the behaviour is obviously destructive to the server, I can immediately engage in dialogue with them, asking why they are doing these things and explaining my concerns. I can also inform other members of upper administration about the issue. Log Evidence ETC
4. Multiple active reports are submitted at once. How do you prioritize and manage them?
Most destructive to the integrity of server-wide RP to least. MRDM > Someone needing assistance with a tool, job, or information.

Staff Mindset:
Why do you want to become Trial Moderator on our server?
Most people want staff for the ability to hand out punishments and answer reports, and that is a reason I am applying. While that's essential, I think what genuinely interests me is using the tools staff have to improve the roleplay experience itself.
For instance, when you have those moments where a simple RP situation snowballs into a server-wide roleplay incident, like a corrupt mayor inciting an uprising or the mafia taking over a portion of the map, I think those are the moments people remember, not the fact someone got warned for RDM 20 minutes earlier.
If I succeed in getting the role of staff, I would help players build those moments. I'd look for opportunities where roleplay can naturally resolve the situation first, stepping in afterwards only if someone genuinely broke the rules.
I think staff should act more or less like game masters rather than invisible moderators. Given we have tools ordinary players don't, I think those tools can be used to create events, support player ideas, and introduce cool situations. For example, if criminals want to organise a rebellion, staff can assist and make it feel like a real event rather than just another raid.
I simply wish to reward creativity and help foster a great environment for players to enjoy.
What does being a staff member mean to you?
Representing the community and being someone players can trust to be fair, while creating roleplay that players keep logging back in for.
How do you handle toxic or disrespectful players without escalating the situation?
I'm grown. I can ignore it if it's directed at myself. If it's being spammed in OOC and becoming obnoxious for other players, a mute can suffice.
What qualities make you suitable for a staff position?
I think I'm very level-headed. I've also wanted to learn a lot more about GMod and how servers and things function, so I think it's a great learning experience for myself to see the backend of things a little bit. I think I can make good, fair judgements, and I'm pretty unbiased.

Final Declaration:
By submitting this application, you agree that:
  • You will follow all server rules and staff guidelines at all times.
  • Staff abuse, bias, or failure to perform duties may result in immediate removal.
  • Trial Moderator is a probationary rank and does not guarantee promotion.
Do you accept these terms? (Yes/No): YES
